Hi! to all Noob like Lil' Bird,

I put together some tips that seem to work for me,
hopefully it will help the new players of BHD/TS get
the hang of the game a bit quicker and reduce thier
frustration.

Hope you find it usefull fellow noob, and see you
all soon in the Best BHD/TS server in Australia, Go OGN!

P.S.

Just in case you haven't notice, there's an updated
version of this tips, scroll down to post #26.

P.S. 2

I'm posting the udated version in this post so you won't have to look for it, the original was lost after OGN was attacked by hackers.

One thing you should mention when talking about levels of detail... What are "your" system specs? Just because you turn everything down doesn't mean the next player has to as well

I actually play all settings on high @ 1024x768, 4xAA, as everything is so much clearer and you can actually see people moving easier in the distance (they don't get swaped out by all the uglyness of the map terrain details being heavily pixelated)...

Also, this should have been posted in the BHD General Chat forum, not OGN General chat

Im glad most of you liked it , sorry I only got notepad
neogenic , lol , and good point Zodiac and Boofhead.

My System Specs:

Athlon XP 2800+ (overclocked running as XP3000+)
Radeon 9800 Pro (default clocks 398/351)
1Gb PC2700 DDR RAM (set to slow settings for stability & +.1v)

The suggested settings for BHD is to get maximum frame rate
and reasonable image quality, you dont have to set it to that
if you have the top of the line system. But we all know that not
everyone can afford the fastest computer, those settings are
for people who are experiencing frame lag on certain maps.

I came up with the recommended setting after trying every
possible combination of resolution and level of detail, then
measure the frame rate while actually playing the maps in
OGN and AUS server. With those setting the frame rate goes
from minimum 30+fps and as high as 200+fps (these are not
exact figures).

Also I just remember I forgot to mention, make sure you
disable vertical sync as I noticed that you lose about 10+fps
when it is enabled.

Thanks for informing me Zodiac, I'm glad some people find
it usefull, but the drawback is, I found some of the players
seem to be shooting a lot better tonight and I was getting
fragged more than usual.

Please read the tips again dj, you must have missed it.

Very simple - more lag, more lead is needed, too bad if
you're playing against other player with better or worst
ping, but that's when experience comes in. You got to
figure out how much to lead and you only got a second
to do this unless you're a sniper or you got a good cover.

Also Prof, it is possible to play good even if you're just
using 56k, you just have to play defensive, use all
available cover, and use ambush tactics. I was on 56k
during the Delta Force Landwarrior time and I can still
maintain my stats on the top 5 of most games. Also
if you're lagging, it's you better to go nading as you don't
have to expose yourself for too long to take a shot. Look
at some of the top players of DC they can get good kill
rates even when they're lagging.

----------------------------------------------------

LOL K@t, but you got nine lives anyway, so it's even.

LOL Prof, I don't know what to say but just try to enjoy
the game, and you do fit well in the squad and you're a
team player, so that's the main thing.

One more tip Prof, when you're in a game and there's
good players in your team, just watch how they play
and just copy what they do. Use your binoculars and
stay back so you don't get shot, or use medic and
follow them around.
